Goals

Surgical endoscopy and minimally invasive surgical methods can be considered the most revolutionary techniques in the world of medicine, and in particular surgery, during the last century. For example, in gynaecology endoscopy has reached such a high level of technological development that at least 80% of surgeries can be carried out using this method, with undeniable advantages both for the patient and for the health-care system.

The main goal is to offer participants the opportunity to learn the theoretical and practical aspects, with particular emphasis on practical exercises. To this end, many hours of hands-on training on pelvic trainers under the supervision of the best surgeons and teachers in the fields of endoscopy and mininvasive surgery have been included.

The workgroups will have a limited number of participants who will be guided by professors and instructors to ensure an experience of value and of exchange in an ideal atmosphere that stimulates open discussion.

CASA DI CURA VILLANOVA, CENTRO PER L’ENDOSCOPIA E L’ONCOLOGIA (Villanova Clinic, Endoscopy and Oncology Centre) in Florence, is a health structure that promotes the development of treatment and research in line with a management system based on the principles of effcacy, effciency and rationality that characterise the enterprise.

The main activities the structure focuses on include the following:
- the design and implementation of clinical trials and observational studies;
- the organisation of scientifc events and educational and training courses.

The School intends making a considerable contribution to research and training in its role as a structure capable of connecting clinical action almost in real time with the basic laboratory, the expert surgeon, and the trainee physician, for creating a proftable scientifc interchange between basic researchers, epidemiologists and clinicians, in a scenario that is open and communicative to the entire international scientifc community.
We are especially proud to be able to support and accommodate these activities with live surgery sessions and practical courses on animated models which qualify us on a national and international level.
